CAMEL had its first meeting on September 6, 2016. The following topics were discussed:

  • The purpose of the group is to provide opportunities for Pitt students to: learn more about advanced methodological topics, receive and provide methodological support, and collaborate within and across departments on interesting research.
  • The format of the group meetings will be a combination of didactic lectures, discussions of assigned readings, presentations about data/methods, and small group discussion.
  • The name of the group was voted to be the Community for Advanced Methodological Learning.
  • The creation of a group website was discussed, with important features being a calendar, discussion forum, and the sharing of files such as readings, syntax files, and data files.
  • Factor analysis was agreed to be a topic of general interest to dive into during the next meeting.
